Laser Vision Correction Treatment Options at OCLI
iLASIK in Long Island – OCLI
iLASIK, also known as all-laser LASIK, is an enhanced form of the LASIK procedure. To perform iLASIK, our surgeons combine the leading-edge Intralase technology, the iFS™ Femtosecond Laser System, with the state-of-the-art VISX™ Star4 excimer laser for a bladeless LASIK experience that promotes maximum patient safety and comfort while delivering highly accurate surgical outcomes.
The iFS™ Femtosecond Laser System sets a new standard for corneal flap creation by allowing our surgeons to perform this crucial step of the LASIK procedure with maximum control and predictable outcomes. Further, the iFS™ Femtosecond Laser allows us to develop customized treatment plans to serve the unique vision needs of our patients, thereby producing outstanding vision corrections results.
Our VISX™ Star4 excimer laser is a state-of-the-art surgical laser that was developed with Hubble Telescope technology, expanding its treatment zones to correct higher-order aberrations, which cannot be corrected with any other type of vision correction treatment. In addition, the VISX excimer laser features the latest CustomVue wavefront technology and IRIS registration. The VISX excimer laser allows us to correct even the minutest corneal flaws, thereby correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
LASIK in Long Island – OCLI
LASIK eye surgery is a highly popular vision correction technique that is also performed with the VISX Star4™ excimer laser. It differs from iLASIK in that a surgical tool called microkeratome is used for the creation of the corneal flap, rather than the iFS™ Femtosecond Laser System. When performed by one of our skilled OCLI eye surgeons, LASIK leads to excellent vision correction results, often greatly reducing the patient’s need for corrective eyewear.
PRK in Long Island – OCLI
PRK is an alternative treatment for patients whose cornea may be too thin for the LASIK or iLASIK procedure. PRK does not involve the creation of a corneal flap. In PRK, a dilute alcohol solution is used to remove a thin outer layer of the cornea (the epithelium). Once this is accomplished, the VISX Star4™ excimer laser is used to reshape the deeper layers of the cornea, thereby correcting the patient’s refractive errors.
