Have you been told you have cataracts? Is your vision getting dull or do you have the sensation of looking through wax paper? If you are experiencing the effects of cataracts, you need to find a Long Island cataract surgery expert that can offer you the best possible solution. Cataract surgery has advanced tremendously over the last 25 years and the cataract surgeons at OCLI are national leaders participating in numerous advancements. We are confident that we have the best cataract surgeons on Long Island.

Modern cataract surgery technology offers our patients options for seeing at multiple distances after cataract surgery. This enables a great deal of visual freedom following cataract surgery. Activities like reading, golfing, skiing and driving become much easier. Our cataract counselors are happy to review your lens implant options when you come in for your cataract eye exam.
If you have diabetes, it is important to understand that your vision is in danger. Uncontrolled diabetes can damage the small blood vessels in the retina in addition to other possible problems. You need to find a Long Island Diabetic Eye Care specialist. These types of eye doctors are typically found in the retina departments of comprehensive ophthalmology practices. Retina specialists go through a great deal of training to be able to accurately care for diabetic patients. There are things you can do to protect your eyes from the damage of diabetes.

It is very important for our diabetic eye care patients to have regular eye exams. Tiny leaks in the retina can happen to anybody with diabetes, even someone doing a great job of managing sugar levels. At OCLI, we take diabetic eye care very seriously. We welcome you to visit our practice to see why we are the best at helping diabetic eye care patients. If you are located in Long Island, Queens, or Suffolk and Nassau counties, please feel free to schedule your diabetic eye care exam with the Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island.
At OCLI, we are proud to offer some of the nation's best cornea surgeons. Several of our cornea surgeons have completed additional training after medical school, including a one-year fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery. If you are a patient suffering from cornea problems, we are happy to help diagnose and create an individualized treatment plan for you. Some of the cornea problems we treat at OCLI include keratoconus, corneal dystrophies, keratitis, dry eye syndrome, and allergies.

Our Long Island refractive and cornea eye doctors are an all-star cast. Come see one of our OCLI cornea experts: Gerard D'Aversa, MD; Eric D. Donnenfeld, MD; Sima Doshi, MD; Chad Hummel, MD; Marguerite McDonald, MD, FACS; Henry D. Perry, MD; Surajit Saha, MD; David Sachs, MD; and John R. Wittpenn, MD.
Glaucoma is a common disease that, when left undiagnosed, can cause severe and permanent vision loss. At OCLI, our glaucoma experts have years of experience in diagnosing and treating glaucoma before vision loss occurs. Glaucoma is often left undiagnosed until it is too late. Showing no symptoms until vision loss occurs, glaucoma is often called the "sneak thief of sight".

To keep this disease from damaging your vision, we encourage patients with glaucoma risk factors to come in for an eye exam yearly. When glaucoma is caught early, our glaucoma specialists can make sure vision loss does not occur. If you have one or more glaucoma risk factors, it is important to schedule a glaucoma eye exam with one of our Long Island glaucoma specialists.
LASIK has changed the way that millions of people see. LASIK eye surgery can make major changes to your lifestyle. Imagine being able to play basketball, ski, workout, run, and play outside without the hassles of glasses and contact lenses. At OCLI we offer the most advanced technology and best LASIK eye surgeons in Long Island New York. If the cost of LASIK in Long Island has been holding you back from the procedure, be sure to consult our LASIK counselors. OCLI provides some amazing LASIK financing options and also offers LASIK consultations to help determine your candidacy for the procedure. LASIK is not for everyone. OCLI practices strict guidelines for LASIK candidacy and will discuss any risks with you during your consultation.

Our Long Island eye care staff is ready to welcome you into the world of clear vision with LASIK. Our patients are very satisfied and often talk with potential patients about their experience. Long Island Diabetic Retinopathy Specialists

Diabetic retinopathy is an eye disease common in people with diabetes. The disease causes abnormal blood vessel growth and can lead to severe vision loss or blindness.

Diabetic retinopathy is the result of damage to the capillaries within the retina caused by tiny bulges that protrude from the blood vessels (micro aneurysms). Micro aneurysms cause blood and fluid to leak from the retina, which leads to vision loss.
