Biography

Board-certified Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Refractive Surgeon specializing in the treatment of corneal and external diseases, anterior segment reconstruction surgery, and phacoemulsification. Dr. Koster was one of the first eye surgeons in New York to utilize multifocal lens technology and has performed over 25,000 LASIK and cataract procedures. Before LASIK was even FDA-approved in the United States, Dr. Koster’s interest in refractive surgery and corneal topography led him to secure a prestigious fellowship in refractive surgery in Hotel-Dieu, Paris, one of the leading eye hospitals in France. For the tenth year in a row, Dr. Koster has been named a New York Super Doctor, giving him Hall of Fame Super Doctor status from the New York Time Magazine. Starting in 2015, Dr. Koster has also been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor every year. When not practicing, Dr. Koster is an assistant clinical professor at New York Eye and Ear and the Surgeon Director of Cataract Surgery at SUNY College of Optometry. He has been a member of the Medical Scientific Advisory Board of the New York Eye Bank for over 10 years. Dr. Koster is fluent in both French and Spanish.
