Biography

Robert F. Rothman, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. After graduating from the Combined Seven-Year Bachelor of Arts/Doctor of Medicine Program at Boston University in 1993, he entered his residency in ophthalmology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Rothman completed his training in 1997 and entered a fellowship in glaucoma at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. In 1998, he joined Drs. Robert Ritch and Jeffrey Liebmann in practice at New York Eye and Ear where he pursued his research interests in surgical outcomes. From 2000 to the present, he has been a partner at Glaucoma Consultants of Long Island where he maintains an active role in research, education, and patient care activities. Dr. Rothman currently spends the majority of his time in direct patient care, with a specialty in adult and pediatric glaucoma.

Dr. Rothman is a residency instructor in glaucoma for the North Shore/Long Island Jewish programs. He is a member of numerous local and national societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, of which he is a diplomate, and the American Glaucoma Society, and maintains a professional advisory panel position for The Sturge-Weber Foundation. He is a past president of the Long Island Ophthalmological Society and the Nassau Academy of Medicine, Ophthalmology Section and serves on the executive board of the Garden City Surgicenter. He is a founder and managing partner at InFocus Capital Partners, a life-science venture capital fund that invests in emerging ophthalmic technology.
