Dr. Andrea N. Nortey is an ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive eye care with research interests in retinal neuroprotection. She recently completed her ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY, where she has trained extensively in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of eye conditions and surgical interventions.
Dr. Nortey earned her medical degree from New York Medical College, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and recognized for her academic excellence and professionalism. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University, where she double majored in Community Health and Religion.
In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Nortey has conducted impactful research on neuroinflammation and photoreceptor protection in retinal degenerative diseases. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Neuroinflammation and Journal of Glaucoma, and she has presented her findings at national conferences, including ARVO and the National Medical Association.
Dr. Nortey is deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in medicine. She has held leadership roles with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at New York Medical College, as well as community mentorship programs supporting underrepresented students pursuing careers in healthcare.
