Biography
Dr. Shamik Bafna is a highly experienced, board-certified ophthalmologist with over 25 years of specialized expertise in advanced vision correction. He currently practices full-time in Cleveland as a specialist in refractive surgery. Recognized as a leader in his field, Dr. Bafna has also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University since 2018.
He specializes in various refractive surgeries such as LASIK, SMILE, and PRK. His clinical focus extends to the integration of the latest surgical technologies to optimize visual outcomes. Notably, Dr. Bafna brings a unique empathetic perspective to his practice, having personally undergone the LASIK procedure.
Dr. Bafna earned his medical degree, as well as a Master’s degree in Bioengineering, from the University of Michigan. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine and further specialized with a fellowship at the New England Eye Center in Boston.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Bafna has been consistently recognized for clinical excellence. He has been named a “Top Doctor” in Cleveland by Castle Connolly every year since 2016. Additionally, he was the recipient of the prestigious Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship Award and twice received the Everett L. Goar Research Award during his residency.
Dr. Bafna is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery.
