Vishal Sharma, MD

Biography

Dr. Vishal Sharma is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive eye care at OCLI Vision. He brings extensive expertise in the medical and surgical management of ocular conditions, with a focus on delivering high-quality visual outcomes for his patients. Dr. Sharma earned his Doctor of Medicine from Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he also completed his internship in Internal Medicine. He performed his ophthalmology residency at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, where he later completed a PGY-5 fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology at the Department of Ophthalmology/Atwal Eye Care.

A dedicated researcher and clinician, Dr. Sharma has contributed to the field of ophthalmology through various research projects, including studies on corneal wound healing and combined cataract and vitrectomy procedures. His work has been published in Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science and presented at the prestigious Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) annual meetings. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Sharma has been consistently recognized for excellence, earning honors in Medical Molecular and Cellular Biology and Clinical Adult Neurology, as well as being named a Dean’s Perfect Scholar.

Dr. Sharma is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Beyond his clinical practice, he has a strong history of community service, having volunteered for the Medical Ministry International’s cataract project in Mexico and led fundraising efforts for community clinics and homeless shelters. Originally from Grimsby, Ontario, Dr. Sharma maintains a disciplined and active lifestyle outside of the clinic, enjoying hobbies such as squash, tennis, and ice hockey.
