RateMDs OCLI Huntington (Park Ave.)
If you wanted the best situation for cataract surgery, Huntington Eye Care and OCLI was the ideal experience. For me, these L & R surgeries were life altering. I came to Dr. Krawitz with every classic sign of cataracts. Dr. Kravitz and the staff at Huntington Eye Care took me through extensive exams and were sizing me and my eyes up to see precisely what treatment my eyes required. Like most people, something like this can cause anxiety and apprehension, but I immediately lost that feeling once I was getting examined. The walls of the center are adorned with Dr. Krawitz photography, so his eyes are just as valuable to him as mine are to me. The staff asks if you feel you need the surgery and then Dr. Krawitz explains thoroughly all the variables and options, the pro and cons of each type of procedure and a general idea of cost based on your insurance. You leave to make a health care decision armed with a wealth of information so you are able to make the best decision for you. Once I decided on which way I was going, I met with Dr. Cohen who handles all your paperwork and scheduling. Dr. Cohen will also explain all the options again to ensure that you know you are heading in way that’s best for you. You also get the list of do’s and dont’s that help make your surgery successful like mine. Dr. Cohen also sets you up with the pharmacy that mails you the drops you’ll need that you start 3 days before the surgery and continue at least one month after. The new surgery center in Garden City is conveniently located and it is similar to a new ER. The Surgi-center staff was terrific as well. They get you settled in a chair that turns into the surgery table and put you at ease. I met the nurses and anesthesiologist and everyone said “I’m here to help you in any way. If there is anything you need, tell me.” Dr. Krawitz then came by to check on me and made sure to mark my forehead with a scarlet letter over the eye he was to operate on. Measure twice, cut once. My wait time for surgery was about a half hour both times which gave a few minutes to talk to other patients in my area. My surgery was rather fast. The day-after surgery visit with Dr. Lutz was quick and easy and everyone made sure you were doing ok. My second surgery was two weeks later to the day. So I just finished my last checkup and I’m good to go. I don’t need glasses, something I wasn’t planning on. The clarity is astonishing, the ghosting is gone, no more warped astigmatism lens vision, the cloudiness is gone and, most remarkably, the world has vivid color again. This would be my answer to the website’s question, “Why Dr. Krawitz”. Thank you Dr. Krawitz, Dr. Lutz, Dr. Cohen and to staff who guided me through and made it simple and easy. Eric Haack

Before my cataract surgery, I had a significant amount of trepidation about the procedure. At my first appointment, I was very impressed with the way that Dr. Krawitz manages his office. He has an extremely competent medical and technical staff who are all very well versed in the use of highly technical diagnostic equipment. In addition, his staff were very helpful, reassuring and cordial. The surgery itself was actually an enjoyable experience from the competent and friendly staff at the Melville surgical center to Dr.Krawitz himself who projected a quiet, calm and self-assured confidence that immediately put me at ease. Dr. Krawitz is an unbelievably talented surgeon with magical hands. I experienced zero pain from start to finish and experienced an outcome beyond my expectations that resulted in 20/20 vision one month post surgery. In addition, the pre and post surgical written direction sheets are so well organized that they could be easily followed by a 7th grader! Dr. Krawitz also provides FAQ's sheets that address what to expect following surgery and almost anything else you could think to ask about. If you haven't yet found an Ophthalmologist for your cataract surgery, do yourself a favor and call Dr. Krawitz's Office for an appointment and rest assured that you will have made the best decision.
