I don’t go out for pancakes very often, but as it’s National Pancake Day today, I would be remiss if I didn’t let you all in on the secret of where to find the very best pancakes in New Jersey. Whether you enjoy your stack of griddle cakes for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, these pancake hotspots are sure to please!
1. Carver’s (38 1st Ave., Denville, NJ)
Carver’s is the full package deal – not only are their pancakes amazing, they simply have the best breakfast around, hands down! This place even has lines in the winter. That’s how good their food is. Need a few more details to get your mouth watering? OK, how about these menu items? Ratatouille omelet with Italian sausage and smoked mozzarella…carrot cake pancakes with cream cheese icing…goat cheese omelet with spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, and red onions…Nutella-stuffed French toast with berries. Hungry yet? Yep, I thought so.
2. Gilchrist Restaurant (9400 Atlantic Ave., Margate City, NJ)
If you’re looking for some awesome blueberry pancakes with a view of the ocean, look no further than Gilchrist Downbeach! The ambience and the food make this place extra special. Order a short stack after your morning stroll on the beach, or grab a sandwich for lunch by the sea – you won’t regret it.
3. My House!
Nope, it’s not a new restaurant – it’s my house, where I make my own healthy pancakes from scratch! Here’s my all-time favorite recipe for pancakes made with oatmeal and cottage cheese.
Blend in food processor:
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup low fat cottage cheese
1/4 tsp vanilla
1 tsp flaxseed oil
Then, stir in 1/2 cup blueberries, and cook in skillet until brown.
I’m telling you, you have got to try this recipe!
So what are your plans for National Pancake Day? Going out? Cooking at home? Do you have any pancake recipes to share? I’d love to see them! Post your favorite recipe on our Facebook page, or in the comments section below.
