Many Long Island LASIK, cataracts, glaucoma and retina patients have visited the experience surgeons at Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island. Additionally, some patients have visited one of its facilities for cosmetic procedures. The paragraphs below explain laser skin resurfacing.
Laser Skin Resurfacing uses laser light to treat to improve the appearance of lines, wrinkles, discoloration, and scarring for healthier-looking skin.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and can take from a few minutes to more than 90 minutes, depending on the amount of skin resurfacing desired.
To perform the procedure, the physician uses a laser to penetrate and remove a number of outer skin layers to uncover new, fresher skin unaffected by imperfections. Once the new layer of skin is exposed, the skin heals and appears younger and free of wrinkles, lines, and imperfections.
