Eyelid Lift Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty) removes excess skin, fat, or muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. The surgery can also help improve drooping eyelids (ptosis), which causes the eyelids to hang low and blocks vision.
The blepharoplasty procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia and takes up to three hours. During the surgery, incisions are made along the creases of the upper eyelid and along the outer lower rim of the eye skin. Excess fat, skin, or muscle is removed to improve the appearance and function of the eyelids and surrounding muscles.
Stitches remain in place for a week after the procedure and bruising and swelling will improve over time.
