David B. Nelson, MD, FACS
Cataract Surgery and Comprehensive Ophthalmology

Dr. Nelson is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and comprehensive ophthalmology including glaucoma treatment. He received his Medical Degree with honors from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn and completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Nelson was the Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Mercy Medical Center from 1995-1999. He has served on the faculty at The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary. Dr. Nelson is a past president of both the Long Island Ophthalmological Society and the Nassau Academy of Medicine Section of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Nelson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. In addition, he has lectured and published extensively on cataract surgery having written two chapters in cataract textbooks. Dr. Nelson is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, New York State Ophthalmology Society, New York State Medical Society, Long Island Ophthalmological Society, Nassau County Medical Society and the Nassau Surgical Society.

Dr. Nelson is a partner in Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island (OCLI). Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island, OCLI, consists of 26 doctors representing most specialties of ophthalmology in 9 locations throughout Long Island; in Rockville Centre, Lynbrook, Valley Stream, Manhasset, East Meadow, Port Jefferson, Mineola and Inwood.
