Timothy Chou, MD
Corneal Specialists and Cataract & Refractive Surgery
Dr. Chou is a board-certified ophthalmologist with extensive experience and background. He sub-specializes in diseases and surgery of the anterior segment, including cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. Following undergraduate studies at Princeton University, Dr. Chou was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. He went on to receive his doctorate in medicine at the Uniformed Services University in Washington, DC, and complete his ophthalmology residency at the Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as Co-Chief Resident. He finished his military obligation at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, where he was Chief of the Ophthalmology Service. He was honorably discharged in June, 1995, as a Lieutenant Colonel select.
Dr. Chou next moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where he completed a cornea fellowship at the world-famous Wilmer Eye Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. For the next several years, he remained on faculty at Johns Hopkins teaching and practicing comprehensive ophthalmology. Wanting to learn more about the latest developments and leading-edge technology, he completed a second fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery under Drs. Perry and Donnenfeld who are acknowledged leaders of their field. Dr. Chou has held faculty appointments at several medical schools, including Johns Hopkins University and Ohio State University. He currently instructs residents at the Nassau University Medical Center. He has written book chapters, papers, and abstracts, made numerous presentations, reviewed for major journals, designed several surgical instruments, and investigated for clinical trials. He is a member of many professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, International Society of Refractive Surgery, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and Tissue Banks, International.
Dr. Chou is an associate in Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island. Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island, OCLI, consists of 22 doctors representing each subspecialty of ophthalmology in 6 locations throughout Long Island; in Rockville Centre, Lynbrook, Valley Stream, Stony Brook, Manhasset and East Meadow.
